On the other hand, the behavior refers to the attitudes, behaviors, and patterns surrounding how individuals choose, consume, and interact with food. Unlike diet, eating behavior is not limited to biological needs, but incorporates psychological, emotional, and social aspects. Food preferences, habits, dietary restrictions, and motivations for eating are all components of eating behavior. Alterations in eating behavior can trigger eating disorders.

Emotions play a significant role in behavior. Individuals often turn to food as a way to cope with stress, sadness, or happiness. This can lead to emotional eating patterns, where people seek out certain foods to comfort themselves.

Culture and social environment

The cultural and social environment in which a person grows up and lives also influences his or her eating behavior. Culinary traditions and food preferences are passed down from generation to generation, shaping individual food choices. The economic environment also plays a vital role in food choice, habits, and food consumption patterns.

Marketing and Media

The food industry and media have a significant impact on eating behavior. Food advertising can influence food preferences and choices, promoting both healthy and indulgent options.

Impact on health

Both diet and behavior have a direct impact on a person's health and well-being. A balanced and nutritious diet is essential to maintain optimal body function and prevent diet-related diseases, such as obesity, diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. If a person does not have a balanced diet with all the necessary nutrients, they are likely to have problems with their eating behavior.

On the other hand, a healthy eating behavior promotes a balanced relationship with food, reducing the likelihood of developing eating disorders such as anorexia, bulimia and compulsive eating behavior. People with positive behavior tend to have a better quality of life and greater satisfaction with their overall well-being.

FOOD BEHAVIOUR AND FAMILY ENVIRONMENT

It is essential to deepen the importance of the role of the family environment in the formation of individuals' eating behavior, especially during childhood. The type of family environment may vary depending on socioeconomic level.

Early emotional bonds between children and primary caregivers have a major impact on the acquisition of eating habits and children's later development. The quality of these emotional ties influences the formation of eating behavior. A family environment with absent parents or less frequent and less positive contact with children is generally associated with child development likely to have a problematic relationship with food.

The presence of eating disorders in the family environment can also influence children's eating behavior. For example, an environment that is constantly subject to food restrictions, restrictive diets, anorexia, bulimia or other disorders can transmit these food concerns and conflicts to the youngest.
